Simplify your meals with Miam and enjoy planning them for the week !

Context

Have you ever found yourself standing in front of the fridge, searching for inspiration for meals of the week without knowing where to start?

Both a practical and personal adventure, this initiative aimed to transform the daily kitchen routine into a simplified and personalized experience. Here's how the project unfolded from idea to wireframe realization.

Project identity :

Project name : Miam

UX Methodology : Wireframe/UI

Project type : Personal project

Duration : 3 weeks during spare time

Project Timeline : August 2022

Objectives

Miam originated from the desire to simplify the daily challenge of meal planning. Frustrated with the recurrent dilemma of creating balanced yet enjoyable meals for everyone, the need for a personalized solution became apparent. The struggle to recall habitual recipes led to the birth of Miam, an application designed to streamline the process of preparing delicious, diverse, and family-approved meals while ensuring a healthy balance.

Miam was crafted with a clear objective: to reduce stress from the daily complexity of meal preparation. The application aims to provide an intuitive solution for organizing recipes, planning weekly meals, and generating a convenient shopping list. The ultimate goal is to allow everyone to rediscover the joy of cooking without stress, offering a personalized and hassle-free experience.

Beyond revolutionizing meal planning, Miam was also a personal quest to enhance my skills in creating user-centered solutions. The focus extended beyond the culinary aspect, aiming to refine the user interface for a seamless experience. Through this project, I aspired to merge my passion for UX design with the practicality of everyday life, striving to deliver an application that not only meets culinary needs but also prioritizes user satisfaction and usability.

UX Process

Even though my skills were limited initially, this project provided a self-taught learning opportunity.

I developed my interface design skills by creating prototypes and refining the design to address both my own needs and those of potential users. Successive iterations allowed me to experiment and grasp the nuances of crafting intuitive interfaces.

Here you can see the wireframes that I ended up making.

Visual Identity

The visual identity of Miam is made to be like the perfect recipe, simple and stylish. 'Miam,' is a French word used for the sound we make when enjoying a tasty bite. Choosing the Lamborghini font, alongside Helvetica, gives Miam a touch of class with a modern twist, making meal planning a sleek and efficient experience. I chose a lively green color, it's all about freshness, growth, and embracing the good stuff in life, just like our approach to cooking up vibrant and nourishing meals. Miam's visual identity isn't just about planning; it's about elevating your entire culinary adventure!

Experience feedback

Embarking on the Miam project was quite a journey. While I don't recall specific frictions, bringing the idea of a comprehensive meal planning application to life had its share of obstacles. I even tried doing some graphic design, creating a logo and a visual identity for Miam but life had other plans and, with a new school term on the horizon, I hit pause. However, the dream persists, and who knows, Miam might make a comeback one day. It's like that unfinished novel you put on hold, always there, waiting for the right moment. Miam, my culinary work-in-progress.
